Inside Barden's Decorating
Barden's Decorating, Inc., owned by Tommy
Barden, began it's mission to offer homeowner's,
builder's, general contractor's & business owner's
the opportunity to choose a painting & papering
contractor who was dependable, who was courteous &
who offered consistent pricing in the industry while
providing for his family.
Tommy's painting path began at M.P. Barden & Son's
while working for his father as a teen.
Fortunately, for you, Tommy decided to begin his own
business in March of 1988 after the birth of his
first child. He began by learning the wallpaper
industry after joining the National Guild of
Professional Paperhangers. In 2005 Muffy Barden,
his wife, joined the forces to accommodate the very
changing business world. Tommy still to this day is
on-site of each & every project. He prefers it that
way.
Tommy has a high standard of how a site should
be managed & maintained. Muffy operates the office
and manages the marketing, networking & residential
estimating. Family is extremely important to Tommy
& Muffy. They want you to know that you will be
treated like family and your painting or papering
project is just as important to them as any project
done in their home or office.
How to Hire a
Contractor
1. Always get three
estimates. (Unless Barden's Decorating has done
work for you before and you would never call anyone
else)
2. Never choose the lowest
estimate......there is usually a reason why a bid is
low. Lots of contractor's cut corner's in order to
profit. Barden's Decorating hires experienced
painter's (which aren't cheap) and we use quality
products (which aren't cheap) and we are insured
(which isn't cheap) and we pay our taxes (no comment
necessary). Why would you want a contractor in your
home or office who is cutting corner's or better yet
who doesn't even have a landline phone in order to
contact them in the future. You can always reach us

3. Always ask for
references. Call those references. Have your
questions ready to ask.
4. Ask for a current copy of
your contractors insurance. Call the agent listed
to make sure that it is a current policy. Our agent
is Brett Reese who owns Southside Insurance and can
be reached at 804.897.5340. Wouldn't it be a shame
to have paint spilled on your $5,000.00 rug and the
contractor could not replace it. That has never
happened to us, but it may someday, and we will be
covered.
